CONSIDERA13LE dissatisfaction is being expressed by some independent operators in the Metropolitan
Area concerning the action of London Transport in refusing them consent to operate coach services to sporting events in London, although they have previously been granted permission to do so.
We learn that Valiant Direct Coaches, Ltd., which has, for some years, been operating, through its subsidiary concern, Messrs. Primrose Coaches, a series of services in connection with Wembley Speedway Supporters' Club, has received consent from the Board to work these services at a minimum fare of 2s. The Board has, we are informed, now commenced to run a. competitive service at Is. 9d.
In such cases as these, the operators appear to have no right of compensation for the loss of business, and it is understood that the Motor Hirers and Coach Services Association is considering the desirability of urging the introduction of suitable legislation to amend the London Passenger Transport Act, 1933. The Valliant concern is seeking legal opinion on the matter.
