• Production of York Trailer's Thermostar refrigerated semi-trailer range has been switched from Northallerton to new facilities at Harelaw, Co Durham, in which York has recently invested £1.3 million.
Until now all Thermostar trailers have been built-up at Northallerton using imported Klegefrance body panel kits. However, from next week York will be producing the Klegecell panels under agreement at the new Harelaw site.
The Thermostar's singlepiece roof, floor, sidewall and front bulkhead panels have both the inner and outer skin bonded on to the insulation with epoxy resin under pressure. The complete body is then mounted on York': own Lo-Deck Frigo lightweight chassis.
York expects its new Th mostar to secure an initial per cent share of the UK fridge trailer market which estimated to exceed 800 vehicles.
The first standard 12.2n Thermostar reefer built at relaw was on display this week at the Temperature Controlled Storage and Dis bution Exhibition at Sandowr (pages 36-38). The thin-wz fridge trailer will be opera: for Tempco Union by BRS a 24-pallet carrier at 36 tom GCW.
