Chancellor of the Exchequer to remove the imposition, last November, of 6d. extra on fuel tax and to make still further reductions later. The tax has caused many prices to rise.
If the motor taxation level remained unchanged until and including 1970, 0,606m. would be collected from road users, although, at current investment rates, only £1,578m. would be spent by the Government on roads.
