SMITHS LUXURY Coaches of Reading has had its licence curtailed from 42 vehicles to 38 for a three-month period starting on March 1, following a public hearing in Bagshot (CM February 19).
South Eastern Traffic Commissioner's chairman Randall Thornton advised the company that spot checks would be carried out during the remainder of the year and a full fleet inspection would take place when the application was made to renew the licence in the summer of 1984.
Mr Thornton made it clear that operators who fail to fulfil their duty in relation to maintenance of their vehicles must expect to suffer disciplinary action.
