• A KwikSave driver helped save two children from a wrecked car after it crashed into his vehicle and went down an embankment, a Cannock inquest has heard.
Michael Ware of Rutland Road, West Bromwich was driving along the M6 near Stafford last June when a car went into the back of his truck.
The car bounced off the lorry and plunged down an embankment off the northbound carriageway between Junctions 14 and 15. Jennifer Dunne, of Leigh, Lancashire died from multiple injuries in the crash and her husband Raymond suffered facial injuries.
Ware, who was not injured, told the inquest that he scrambled down the embankment and helped to get the two young children out of the wrecked car.
Staffordshire South Coroner Reginald Browning recorded a verdict of accidental death and called for fencing to be erected to stop any more vehicles falling down the embankment.
