ohere are some well-known get-you-home dodges if your vehicle breaks down: a pair of tights in place of a broken fan belt, or an egg cracked into a leaking radiator are famous examples. Here's one that's not so advisable: two US police officers from Arkansas set out one night in their pickup truck on a frog catching expedition (I know, but there's not much in the way of entertainment in that part of the world). Shortly before midnight a fuse blew causing the headlights to go out. As they were not carrying any spares, Officer Ray Willis decided to improvise using a .22 bullet. He placed it in the fuse box next to the steering column. Inevitably, the bullet overheated and shot the driver, Officer Thurston Poole, in the right testicle The vehicle duly careered into a tree where Officer Willis sustained a broken clavicle and Poole received cuts and abrasions.
