licence application, made by Atlas Express Co. (Birmingham) Ltd., to obviate difficulties inherent in operating a mixed fleet, was granted by the West Midland Licensing Authority, Mr. John Else, at Birmingham last week.
For the company, Mr. N. Carless said that Atlas had established depots in various parts of England and Wales and operated a considerable number of liehides. Most of these were specified in A licences, but some were still operating under B licences.
Mr. D. F. Dowsett, of Atlas, said that there was no intention on the part of his company to vary its operations. If the application were granted, it would dispose of all the B vehicles operated in the area.
• Questioned by Mr. Else with regard to air freight, Mr. Dowsett said that since the Birmingham office had been opened a year ago last January, air freight had trebled.
