THE LIAISON Group of the Bus Industry consisting of representatives of all sectors of the Bus and Coach Council, bus manufacturers, and the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders, has been formed to consider the problems facing British bus manufacturers.
It is chaired by London Transport bus managing director David Quarmby, and its main objective is to monitor the trends in bus purchasing to understand the implications for British manufacturers, and to show where action can help to ensure a stable base for the bus manufacturing industry. LOBI will also look again at the call for new bus grant or other financial incentives, and policy aspects of standardisation in future bus and coach development.
Operator practices in disposing of old buses are also being studied.
