I'M WRITING IN response to an article about drivers on insulin that appeared in CM (22 May).
I have been on insulin for 29 years now and still hold my C+E licence. I'm 69 and still do one or two days a week.
In my career, I have driven on the Continent and all over the UK. My last two long-term blood sugar results have been 6.8 and 6.1, which is, to anyone who doesn't know, very good, and I have had no trouble. If you look after yourself, you have nothing to worry about.
I think the European Union came up with the law, and just like everything else that comes from Brussels, the Government lays it down in stone. Diabetics do get a warning that they could have a heart attack, but there should be no discrimination.
Each driver should be judged on his own health and merits. Jim Nelson Cumbria
