HAULIERS' FUEL protests are continuing across the UK in advance of the industry day of action planned for 2 July.
This Saturday (28 June), 100 trucks are expected to travel slowly along one of the busiest roads in North Wales. Haulier Stephen Williams of Stephen Wiliams Transport is organising the protest, which will travel from Wrexham along the A483 to Chester.
Protests earlier this month outside refineries in Pembroke and Milford Haven have provoked some positive reaction. Organiser Michael Gough says he has been invited to a meeting this week with the deputy first minister of the Welsh Assembly, Ieuan Wyn Jones.
Gough's local Westminster MY, Roger Williams, has also arranged for a delegation from the protesters to meet Wales Office minister Huw Irranca Davies in July.
The 2 July Road Haulage Association (RHA) protest begins at 11.30am opposite the House of Commons in Old Palace Yard.
