Authority Martin pended the twovehicle/five-trailer licence held by Liverpool-based Philip E Riley, trading as L P Roadways, after he failed to appear at a Manchester public inquiry.
Albu said that a call-up letter had been sent to the operator's premises and had been returned marked "gone away". A second letter was sent to the operator's home address, but this was ignored.
The call-up letter mentioned convictions that were imposed by Widnes magistrates in November last year for using an Operator's Licence identity disc with intent to deceive; using a vehicle without an operator's disc; handling a stolen vehicle excise licence; using a vehicle without an excise licence, and forging an excise licence.
Albu said that these matters needed to be considered with the operator present. The licence would be suspended for a month, enabling Riley to make representations.
