Renault VI dealer Kent Truck Services has set up shop in South London with a site in Streatham Road, Mitcham. In charge as general manager is Mark Baker, formerly with West Pennine and Hartshorne.
"Although it's primarily a service and parts point two of our sales people will be based there," says Kent Truck's owner and managing director, Sandy Young. Establishing a truck outlet in the capital is a tough challenge, he admits: "The cost of the fixed overheads isn't too dissimilar to other parts of South East England (we're based near Canterbury) but employment casts are horrendous."
Now in his second year as Renault VI dealer council chairman, Young is delighted with the progress made by Renault's Diamond Quality Trucks approved used commercials scheme. "It gives customers added confidence and speaks volumes for the quality of the product," he says.
Equally pleased with Diamond Quality is John Hicks, recently appointed director and dealer principal at Wellingborough, Northants, Renault VI outlet Harborne Group. "It's another useful selling tool," he says.
