TFIE ingenious system of electro-hydraulic control of the over-running brakes employed on the horsebox and other trailers made by the Low-Loading Trailer Co„ Bedford, has been described in full in The Commercial Motor. We are now able to announce that an improvement has been effected by incorporating with the braking mechanism the Lockheed system and by coupling up the electric operating gear with the circuit, which, normally, illuminates the stop
light. The accompanying illustration shows the latest arrangement of the drawbar and brake-actuating apparatus.
Briefly to enumerate the latest range of Low-Loading trailers, there are three two-wheeled vehicles, costing £11 10s., £18 and £20 respectively, the smallest having a capacity of 5 cwt., and the other two of 8 cwt. Then there are 12-ewt. trailers, which include a cattle-carrying vehicle and a two-wheeled horsebox. The prices, in this case, range from £35 to £75. Finally, there is the four-wheeled horsebox trailer with accommodation for two horses, the price of which is 1175. In the second and third types, the independent wheel suspension, for which the concern is well known, is employed.
