• Routel has launched a computerised telephone link providing easy access to its loadmatching system.
Installed in the vehicle's cab it could revolutionise the way many operators do business. Using the Dataphone telephone/terminal, with a 180mm flat screen display and full "QWERTY" keyboard, the operator simply dials into the system to call up data at the touch of a button.
The alternatives are a videotex screen or voice recorded list of available loads.
Dataphone is the same size as a desktop answering system. It can be used to program phone numbers, addresses and messages, and will accept terminal-toterminal live text communication. Other software options provide for word processing and a personal organiser; the phone format is claimed to make the system user friendly.
