• An RAC patrolman was killed last week when he was hit by a truck while working on the northbound hard shoulder of the M6. This happened less than a month since an AA patrolman died in a similar incident on the Al CM) in North Yorkshire.
Tirth Singh Dessi, 43, from Handsworth, was repairing a van parked on the motorway between junction 6 and 7. A West Midlands Police spokesman says: 'The incident happened just after 07:00hrs; the man died after being in collision with an HGV."
Dessi was confirmed dead on arrival at Birmingham City Hospital. A 41-year-old lorry driver from Pontypool—who has not been named—was arrested in connection with the incident. He was later bailed by police.
