• Fears that dozens of Kent hauliers would go out of busir with the withdrawal of freight ferry services from the Por Romsgate have been allayed after Thanet District Cou stepped in to take control of the port From Sally Freight. The agreement leaves the council free to negotiate with prospective ferry operators or owners (CM 12-18 Nov).
One freight ferry is currently running between Ramsc and Ostend; the council hopes that three ferries will soon in operation.
