UK AND CONTINENTAL operator WH Bowker is satisfied with its annual results after increasing profits last year by almost 8%.
The company, with bases in Preston, Hull and Zeebrugge. Belgium, made a pre-tax profit of £532,000 on a £95.2m turnover for the year ending 31 December 2(X)5.
Turnover from its transport and distribution division fell to LII.5m from Ll2.3m the previous year. but its retail and motor-dealing activities increased turnover by more than 14% to£83.7m.Tumover from its Belgian operations dropped to £2.6m from £2.8m. WH Bowker invested in new premises in Blackburn in April and extended its Preston base in 2005. A statement says: "This investment will enable the business to continue growing."
