• Bus crews employed by Newcastle City Transport withdrew, on Tuesday, a threat to ban late evening duties because of vandalism experienced on some services. After talks between the busmen, union representatives and members of the city council, the department agreed to fit two-way radios on buses operating over the worst routes.
