Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Only two new members have joined removals consortium Brittania Movers International this year, bringing its total to 38.

BMI managing director Bill Walker said he was looking for 24 new companies at the beginning of the year.

The recession has hit removals hard, however, and there are still open points in Oxford, Gloucestershire, Derbyshire, Bradford and Huddersfield, Glasgow, Edinburgh and Exeter.

There is little sign of a recovery in domestic removals, says Walker, but BMI is priming itself for corporate work and most importantly for the Single European Market. It has signed formal trading agreements with DNT in Italy, Contrans in Germany, and Demiu in France.
