Bid rejected
• Cheshire haulier James Irlam & Sons has lost a bid for additional vehilces and trailers. The Chelford-based company had sought to add 20 vehicles and 30 trailers to its existing 60-vehicle/ 100-trailer licence. North Western LA Martin Albu was not satisfied that the operating centre was suitable for an increased fleet.
Miles warned
• Wrexham timber haulier David Miles had his licence renewed with a warning when he appeared before North Western LA Martin Albu after two convictions and a prohibition notice for overloading.
Anxiety attack
• Liverpool haulier Philip Ryley, trading as LP Roadways, had an "anxiety attack" when charged with 12 alleged offences, including the theft and forgery of a vehicle excise licence and handling a stolen excise licence. Widnes magistrates adjourned the case for five weeks.
Driver jailed Ill Truck driver Derek Wilson of Rhydtalog, near Mold has been given a six-month prison sentence suspended for two years and banned from driving for two years after being convicted at Mold Crown Court of causing the death by reckless driving.
