• Salvador Caetano is working on a successor to its Algarve coach: it hopes to have it ready for a UK launch at next month's Coach & Bus '91 in the NEC, Birmingham.
The Portuguese manufacturer is believed to be assessing if the economic climate is right for the launch: it is evaluating a prototype featuring substantial changes to the 18-year-old design. Caetano wants to increase its sales in Britain, where the Algarve is its biggest selling full-size coach. The Algarve body, which is built of stressed-steel one-piece waist panels and aluminium skirt panels, is available in full or midi length. The full-length body is available on a chassis including the Daf SB2305, Dennis Javelin and Volvo BlOM; the midi comes on an MAN chassis.
