LA AST Friday, a Hull and District
Committee of the Commercial Motor Users Association was formed at a wellattended meeting at Hull. Mr. Harry Clark, organizer to the North-eastern Division, who presided, stated that, since the recent mass meeting in Hull, he had received many offers of help in the work of improving the organization of local operators. There was a strong desire for unity of action, particularly with regard to the stabilization of haulage rates. • Mr. Robert Barr described in detail how the rates question is being dealt with in Leeds, Bradford and Halifax by, the voluntary rates tribunal (which " was the subject of a recent article in The Commercial Motor), and stated that the many difficulties were . gradually being overcome.
Mr. Norman Annison was elected chairman of the strong local committee (represeritatiWe -both of hauliers and an'ciliary users) which was formed, and Mr. F. Cook was elected vice-chaimian. Mr. Annisbn and Mr. T: Spencer were appointed as the representatives of the Hull district on the North-eastern Divisional Committee of the C.M.V.k. n53
