UNITED PARCELS remained profitable in 1984/85 despite the ferocity of competition in the parcels delivery market.
Its turnover rose by £5.3m to £66m, but profits slipped back slightly from £7.77m to £7.07m. But the company points out that last year's acquisition of Atlas Express added a £20m turnover business to the group and should strengthen its future performance.
Moves have already been made to integrate Atlas with the rest of United's network.
