Chris Wright, managing director of the independent Commercial Vehicle Auctions, conducts sales of commercial vehicles, trailers and plant equipment twice monthly at his premises in Doncaster and organises auctions for customers around the country.
He says: "We haven't seen a single Foden Alpha 8x4 for auction but we have seen a few tractive units. That's not too surprising as operators of eight-wheelers tend to keep their trucks for at least five years while tractive units may be turned round in two or three years. The Foden Alpha is still relatively new so we are not likely to see many coming up for sale at this stage.
"The Daf cab was a good move for Fader) and has increased its sales figures. I suspect that the Cat engine is the more popular choice for the eight-wheeler, but for either make of engine the 38ohp versions will be most in demand when they do start to appear for resale." 111
