Scottish hauliers may be eligible for financial aid to cover both training and capital expenditure.
Scottish Enterprise, a government-funded economic development agency, bears overall responsibility for such assistance, although dayto-day enquiries are handled by Local Enterprise Companies (1.ECs).
If a haulier wanted financial help with, say, ansite environmental improvements, or perhaps with reclaiming a piece of land for business use, an LEC could offer advice, and in some circumstances might provide financial aid.
Help could also be forthcoming from the European Social Fund, which can pay up to 45% of training costs for private businesses. The European Regional Development Fund is also on hand to help those in the private sector.
Although priority is given to those working in the manufacturing sector. hauliers could he eligible for help.
