LIVE SATELLITE LINK-UPS with the Southampton factory, Channel 4 TV presenters and crowds of onlookers ensured the unveiling of the new Ford Transit took centre stage on the opening morning of the show.
The new Transit (covered in detail in CM26 January) features new engines and styling, as well as maior improvements to driveability thanks to chassis, suspension and braking alterations. Ford has shipped in a number of senior executives for the launch along with a sizeable contingent of European press, making the show a truly international affair.
"There's nothing more important to Ford of Europe than the Ford Transit," says John Fleming, president and CEO of Ford of Europe. "Where Transit's business goes, so does Ford's."
Ford is also taking the wraps off its new Ranger, with an uprated 2.5-litre engine, and a revised Transit Connect with a new 110hp engine.
