Modifications required to the gndard Protector included a !ick-fit and detachable trailing de complete with air ispension fed from the hide's compressor via plug-in connections. This ensures that its axle loadings comply with the exacting limits set for air transport.
Its roof-mounted foamproducing monitor is a fold flat type, which along with the detachable flashing beacons and lighting units ensures that the vehicle roof has sufficient clearance for loading into the aircraft.
The engine is a Detroit Diesel 8V902T 367kW (492bhp) driving through an Allison HT750DRD fully-automatic transmission.
