QUINTON HAZELL engineers in conjunction with their St Wel counterparts has designed a steel step which, when fitted to the QH Underrider, provides safe ease of access to the rear of the vehicle without moving the Underrider bar.
St Ivel wanted to use QH Underriders on its fleet of refrigerated vehicles while retaining easy access for loading and unloading.
The steel step, which is 229mm (91n) wide and 705mm (273/41n) long, has an aluminium check-plate non-slip top and a locking mechanism and safety pin. It is folded flat and locked when not in use.
The Underrider with the step is currently on test with three St lye! 6.5-tonne Bedford TK refrigerated vehicles and if successful will be fitted to the rest of the fleet.
