UMMINS has signed a two-year contract with the Hungarian tradig organisation, Mogurt to modify its 110 134-216kW (180-290bhp) 0-litre engine range from vertical to horizontal configuration.
Under the terms of the agreelent the Automobile Research nterprise will redesign the rototype components, Csepel utornotive Works will manufac ture them and lkarus, the Hungarian bus and coach company will install and test the redesigned engines in its buses.
Production of the engine in its vertical form started last year at Cummins' Jamestown USA works and was followed by its assembly at the Shotts, Lanarkshire plant which began in May this year.
Ike rus, the world's largest manufacturer of buses, already uses Cummins 14-litre NH engines in its buses exported to the USA.
