ISN'T it about time that members of the National Committee and ex-members stopped this slanging match of words and got together round a table and thrashed it out man to man.
We do appreciate that Mr T. Carrington was in Avro at the outset and that he was probably doing recovery while the majority of us were still in kindergarten. While, on the other hand, one has to go with the times and the new techniques of recovery. Avro itself is an excellent association. It has brought together a tremendous amount of people who would have otherwise not known each other. How can we get other members to join when they see that national members and ex-members cannot agree?
Myself having been an active member of Region Six and also having had some liaison with the national committee's exhibitions, I now find myself very reluctant to participate in any of the local or national functions, the reason being, in my opinion, that the regions are not being kept fully informed as to what is going on in the National Committee. I do appreciate that there could be items which are ongoing, but at least the regions could still be informed as to how far these items have got.
I do not think that Mr
.Carruthers in any, way, shape or form wished to denigrate the efforts of other Avro members and until all national members and ex-members get together and thrash this problem out, I cannot see the association improving. This is my own opinion and does not represent the opinion of other members of Region Six.
