are facing a battle to stop the local council closing down their layby facilities. One trader, Jacqueline Hartley, says the vans have been on the laybys for 10 years and are "very, very popular with the drivers" due to the food's quality and price. Hartley says the drivers have sent "hundreds" of forms complaining about the plans to stop the vans to Cherwell District Council. "The council says there are alternatives close by at a Granada and a Welcome Break stop," Hartley says. "However, the drivers say these are way too expensive." The council wants to close the vans because they are not clean enough, says Hartley. A meeting on 7 September will decide on the vans' fate.
