• Hopes have revived of an end to the dockers' ban on working the new container terminal at Tilbury.
London's 12,500 enclosed dock workers were voting by ballot this week on whether to accept a new pay offer giving guaranteed weekly earnings of up to £36.
This was the outcome of a weekend meeting of the union's No. 1 dock group committee and lay delegates, called after Friday's pay talks between employers and union negotiators.
