• The Dennis Pax V has been uprated in weight and renamed the DB 15.5. It is fitted with a 5.5-ton capacity front axle which allows the gross weight limit to be increased to 15.5 tons except in the case of the shortest wheelbase version-10ft 8in.—where the limit continues at 15 tons by reason of C. and U. Regulations.
Other changes made in the specification consist of the use of 10.00-22.5 radial tubeless tyres and the employment of lock actuators for parking instead of an airassisted mechanical handbrake. The frontal appearance is changed with the use of-a new grille with horizontal flutes.
The standard specification includes the Perkins 6.354, 120 bhp gross diesel, Dennis five-speed constant-mesh gearbox and Eaton two-speed rear axle. Chassis/cab weight for the longest, 17ft 5in., wheelbase chassis is said to be 3 tons 17.5cwt; the payload and body allowance within the 15.5-ton limit is from 11 tons 13.5cwt for the 12ft 4in. wheelbase version to 11.5 tons lOcwt for the longest version. A 14ft 5in, wheelbase model is listed and in the case of the 10ft 8in. wheelbase chassis the payload and body weight can be 11 tons 4cwt within the 15-ton gross limit.
