• European distribution firm Cavewood, part of the Geodis Group, has taken full ownership of Scottish-based express transport firm Gordon Leslie.
This follows Cavewood's acquisition of a 51% stake in 1996. Farmer managing director Craig Leslie becomes area manager Scotland,' North for sister company United Carriers; he will oversee the development of Geodis Group companies within Scotland. A Cavewood spokesman says redundancies are unlikely and there will be few noticeable changes.
'Gordon Leslie is seen as an asset to the group and it is going from strength to strength," he adds. Last year Gordon Leslie had a turnover of £3m.
It employs 37 staff and operates a fleet of 12 tractors, eight rigids and 21 trailers from a 1,580m2 distribution site at Linwood, near Glasgow Airport.
