• Peugeot is fitting its HDi common-rail engine into its Partner and Expert van ranges.
In the Partner 800 LX, which goes on sale on 1 February at £10,175, the 2.0-litre HDi produces 90hp at 4,000rpm20hp more than the existing 1,868cc unit. Even more impressive is its torque214Nm (158Ibft) at 1,900rpm: a 65% increase over the current model's figure at 2,500rpm.
Peugeot claims a reduction of exhaust emissions of up to 60%, and fuel consumption is reduced by up to 27%. Unladen, the 062mph standing start time is said to be reduced from 20.1sec to 151sec, while for those autobahn trips top speed is 100mph.
The Expert's version is even higher rated, producing 95hp, also with 214Nm of torque, but developed at 1.750rpm.
