In 2009/10 VOSA carried out roadworthiness checks on 173,951 HGVs in England, Wales and Scotland, including nearly 100,000 from outside the UK.

From May to December 2010, VOSA checked more than 43,000 foreign vehicles, resulting in the issuing of 323 fixed penalties of £200 each for cabotage offences.
