Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

A COMPANY HAS been given a seven-day suspension for exceeding its licence authority and for vehicle maintenance problems resulting in prohibitions.

North-Western Traffic Commissioner Beverley Bell also refused Partington Plant Hire's application to increase the authority on its licence from two vehicles to four vehicles and one trailer. She said that when the Crawshawbooth-based firm made the application it was advised to seek an interim licence to remedy the use of an unauthorised vehicle.

Vehicle examiner Stephen Kelsall said that when he carried out a maintenance investigation in March three vehicles were being operated and he advised the company to seek interim authority. The two specified vehicles were given prohibitions.

There was no forward planning system or proper driver defect-reporting system in place, though following his advice such systems were implemented. The safety inspection intervals ranged from nine to 42 weeks, although he was assured by transport manager and director Michael Partington that the vehicles had been frequently inspected and repairs carried out.

TheTC said the suspension wouldgive the company an opportunity to make sure the two vehicles were in tip-top condition and that everything was in place to ensure full compliance.
