N Insurance rates for hauliers seeking to protect themselves against terrorism are set to soar following a decision by a leading insurance company to end its "ceasefire discount".
Pool Re is the organisation which provides additional terrorism cover for British companies above the levels catered for in conventional insurance pali
cies. Following the IRA's Manchester bomb it has ended the 40°,, reduction in rates that it introduced at the start of the IRA ceasefire M January.
Insured companies will now be asked by Pool Re to pay the extra 40°u on their premiums: rates set for the New Year will reflect the increased level of terrorist activity in Britain.
