Turkish driver who was found with heroin worth £7 million in his truck's wind deflector is due to begin next month at Canterbury crown court.
Durmas Yamakoglu, 34, who was driving a British-registered lorry for a London-based haulier when a 89kg stash of heroin was discovered, will be the subject of a preliminary hearing on 7 April. He was charged with the impor

tation of drugs and has been in custody since January when Dover Customs discovered the stash. No further arrests have been made although Customs says its inquiry continues.
The vehicle was carrying a load of pottery from Romania when it arrived on the Zeebrugge ferry. The heroin was found stuffed between in a fabricated cavity between the deflector's inner and outer skin. A metal sheet had been secured on the back of the deflector.
