Elive weeks from now, on 1 May, the UK will go to the polls. With the election excitement out of the way, CM readers can vote for a splendid bank holiday weekend of pure indulgence by heading off to Peterborough, CM Truckfest returns on Sunday and Monday 4-5 May to the East of England Showground where my spies promise a sleaze-free family outing of thrills, spills, topflight entertainment and trucks, trucks and more trucks.
Those with a fiery temperament will enjoy daredevil Patrick Bourny's Space Machine, billed as the most unusual 4x4 in the world. The Renault-based fire monster performs frontwheel wheelies and shoots flames from its !car exhaust. Not unlike the Hawk's Reliant Robin on one of its temperamental days, although I'm told that Bourny's vehicle is designed to behave in this way, Away from the arena visitors can enjoy the antics of impressionist Boby Davro on the Le Shuttle stand, He will also be hosting the Sunday-night knees-up, which features a live tribute to Freddie Mercury and Queen. It gladdens the Hawk's heart that royalty has been placed at the centre of this year's activities. I just hope Mr "Mercury" knows the words to the anthem.
