• Jacobs Holdings, which owns car transporter firm Sheertruck and the Dart Line ferry service, boosted its profits last year. Turnover during 1996 was up more than 80%, to £41.7m: pre-tax profits rose From £196,000 during 1995 to £3m.
The company says Sheertruck and its recent acquisition, Arcade Traffic Management, are both performing in line with expectations, and prospects for the coming year are good.
In April Dart Line plans to launch two new return daily sailings between Zeebrugge and Dartford, offering crossings for unaccompanied and hazardous cargoes.
