Overall, the Sprinter 311 COI is hard to knock. It might be short on frills, but commercial purchases like this aren't bought to impress the neighbours. Its retail price does reflect its mileage, and it is a decent opportunity for someone looking to purchase a long-wheelbase, high-roof panel van.
The market, though, prefers the 122hp version, and that comes at a premium. The buyer could well be someone not witting to shell out that little bit extra, or an operator with specific experience of this exact vehicle.
Market perception of its apparent lack of power, and the retrofit bulkhead, are the only downsides to what is otherwise a very strong, clean, and functional product.
What will make MD55 SXK stand out from the crowd is its fuel economy and road performance. It delivered exceptional returns on the A-road section and excelled on the motorway section.
Its handling was extemporary and, despite only being a five-speed, its driveline is flexible enough for just about any situation.
