RUBBER IN INDUSTRY
D URBER is being used to an 'micas"Xing extent in many industrial spheres, particularly in the motor vehicle industry. In order to keep engineers abreast of the times with advances in new or unusual applications, Silentbloc, Ltd., Victoria Gardens, Ladbroke Road, Notting Hill Gate, London, W.II, is publishing a quarterly magazine named "Torque."
It is well illustrated and printed, and deals with its subject in a bright and interesting manner. So far as supplies permit. it will be distributed to engineers, free of charge.
MISLEADING INFORMATION " NAODERN buses and trams, like alelectric trains, usually have their
engines under the floor.. The typical English double-decker bus is an exception." This enlightening information is quoted from a well-produced book by Christian Barman, published by Penguin Books, Ltd., as the result of suggestions made to the publisher by the Council of Industrial Design.
It deals with public transport, and shows, by the aid of a fine series of pictures, how transport facilities have improved throughout the ages it is unfortunate that the short reference to buses should be so misleading.
