WE IN THE VILLAGE of Chideock, Dorset, have a major problem with large vehicles, as you may be aware from our recent apperances in the national media.
A bypass has been suggested, although we would prefer an alternative route as the answer, with a 7.5-tonne weigh limit in the village but access allowed to larger vehicles for local deliveries.
This alternative route was put forward by one of our supporters, a gentleman who has 40 years experience as a transport manager.
Our request is for haulage firms to consider the possibility of using this route (see image) — just eight minutes and seven miles longer when running from Southampton to Plymouth. It would relieve some of our problems.
