Industrial Fire Extinguisher
NJOW being produced by Graviner (Colnbrook) Ltd., a corn' M pany formed recently to combine the fire protection interests of Wilkinson Sword Ltd. and Graviner Manufacturing Co. Ltd., is a portable industrial fire extinguisher called the Graviner Swordsman. This unit uses the extinguishant bromochlorodifluoromethane (BCF), which was intro duced towards the end of 1963 by Ltd.
This extinguisher is claimed to be most efficient in use against ,inflammable-liquid fires and risks involving electrical equipment. It is safe in use against generally encountered fire risks. The unit is recharged by screwing on a new cylinder of BCF.

ECENTLY published by Marchal Distributors Ltd. is a catalogue and price list which gives details of the concern's range of products. A feature of this well-produced catalogue is the clear quality of the reproductions which give representations of the beams of the headlamps included. Featured in this publication is the new Senior Fantastic quartz iodine lamp, which is fitted with high-power quartz iodine vapour bulbs. The filament in the bulb of this type of lamp is heated to a temperature of 1,300°C, producing lighting power claimed to be twice that of the conventional bulb. The lamp's reflectors are also deeper and larger in area than most. Both the long range and fog lamps are suitable for 12 V systems; each is available at £7 9s. 6d., complete with bracket, flick switch and cable. Instant-heat Generators mOW available from Boscombe Precision-Engineering Co.
(1963) Ltd. is a range of portable instant-heat generators. Three models are available—the Tropical, for heating areas of up to 50,000 Cu. ft., the Tropical Twin, for areas of up to 100,1300 cu. ft., and the Million Air; which will give a heated air output of 20,000 Cu. ft. a minute. The heaters, which use 'normal oil-firing techniques, are easy to operate. They are powered by an electric motor which develops 0.33 h.p. and operates at 220/240 V a.c.; a 110V system is also available. The fuel tank holds 12 gal. of commercial quality paraffin. The units may be used to heat hangars and garages, workshops and yards. They are finished in polychromatic palp blue and red stoving enamel. Dimensions of the Tropical model are length 4 ft., width 1 ft. 6 in. and height 3 ft.

Paint Drying Unit

A NEW infra-red paint drying unit is now being manufac
tured by the Process Heating Division of Claudgen Ltd. This incorporates 12 infra-red reflector lamps of 250W, which give great heat intensity over an area of 2 ft. by 1 ft. 6 in, and will dry paint in as little as 10 minutes.
The, unit has a fullyadjustable radial arm, which permits a choice of height• and overhang. Further adjustment of the heating unit inside the support bracket can be made by releasing wing nuts. A wire grille protects the lamps from accidental damage.

Lightweight Generating Set DEVELOPED by Engine Applications Ltd. is a new Swan dual-voltage petrol-engine-driven generating set which weighs only 35 lb. It is claimed to be particularly. suitable for the emergency boosting of batteries of road vehicles and site machines to provide easy starting. It can also be used for auxiliary or emergency lighting purposes. The set has an output of 250W a.c. or 300W d.c.; it operates at 110 V or 230 V. Developing 0.75 h.p. at 3,000 r.p.m., the B.S.A. four-stroke air-cooled power unit is coupled to a permanent-tnagnet generator; this eliminates interference with television, radio and so on.

AN agreement has been reached whereby Intertruck Ltd., sole distributors in the U.K. for the German firm Toussaint and Hess, are to manufacture the German concern's range of Teha tailboard loaders in this country. Five of these hydraulic tailboard loaders are to be made available, ranging from a 10 cwt. model to one of 3 tons capacity.
The Teha loader can be fitted to lorries and trailers of any type without modification of the chassis. Fitting can be to the rear end as well as to either side and normal trailer-couplings need not be shifted. The loader will raise and lower a load from ground to body level in approximately eight seconds and can be stopped at any intermediate level; from body level it can be raised to the vertical position. Operation is by hydraulic pump from a power take-off from the gearbox.

Additions to Double "A" Range A NUN/BER of new items have been added to the Double I-1.A" range marketed by A. Blackford and Son Ltd. Among these is a tubeless tyre repair process which comprises individual repair units made up of seven layers of vulcanized and unvulcanized rubber. The basic kit, DA/CP 1 contains 100 units, a canister of cement, an insertion tool and a trimming knife. Also introduced are compact tyre repair sections for hot or cold • application. These are of nylon cord in a criss-cross construction; they are for repairs from nail-hole size to 1 in cuts and are available in four sizes. Special moulded rubber tube repair units for hot or cold application are also being marketed.
For body repairs, a scratch remover, SR 2, is now available in 2 oz. tubes; this removes surface scratches and paint, blemishes. Another new body repair kit is the DK 95. This is made up of a polyester filler, hardener, spray primer, spot putty, scratch remover, glass-fibre screen and putty knife.

Dry Film Lubricant AFEATURE of the Foliac Nix. dry film lubricant L.731, now available in an aerosol pack from Graphite Products Ltd., is its very low coefficient of friction which is maintained over a wide range of temperature. In aerosol form the lubricant is easy to use and quantity can be accurately controlled.
This chemically stable lubricant is suitable for use on many types of surface; it is claimed to be effective as an anti-seize application for threaded connections and at a parting medium in rubber, plastics and metal moulding processes. Treated surfaces are both oil and water repellant.
