RENAULT TRUCKS has reiterated its commitment to the UK, despite the testing economic difficulties, and claims it will increase its market share.
The AR Volvo group member says it grew its UK market share for heavies to 5.5% in 2008, up from 4% in 2007. but adds that 2009 is "difficult to predict".
Laurent Farman, managing director of Renault Trucks, tells CM: "We arc happy about what we've achieved in 2008, particularly in turnover, volumes and market share.
"We are obviously entering a very special period at the moment, and nobody in the truck business has ever seen such a downturn happen over such a small period of time."
He added that despite this downturn, the company would not be making alterations to its new product development cycles, and would also continue to focus on its parts business and dealer network coverage.
The company will also move to a new purpose-built headquarters in Dunstable early next year.
