THE Road Haulage Association this week confirmed the programme for its annual conference, which will be held at Plymouth on October 15 and 16. Following opening addresses by the Mayor of Plymouth and Mr K. A. Hatcher, chairman of the RH A, on Tuesday, there will he four business sessions.
Mr E. M. Haines, a director of P & 0 Road Services Ltd will present a paper on the "Profit and loss account", followed by a paper on "Careers in road haulage", presented by Mr R. F. B. Campbell, of the Independent Schools Careers Association.
As in former years, there will be a paper presented at hinrh on the oneninp day. This year, the economics editor of The Times, Mr Peter Jay, will discuss the economic situation, and the closing discussion on Tuesday is to consider the place of women in road haulage.
The second day's business session is to be opened by Mr M. Vulliamy, of Perkins. Engines, who will present a paper on the development of goods vehicle engines. This will be followed by a paper with an operator slant entitled "Backload facilities" by Herr Binenbruck, of BDF Germany. As in previCus years, the business session fcr the conference will conclude with an open meeting inviting members to put ' forward their own items for discussion.
