• The Pinzgauer off-roader, built in Guildford by Automotive Technik, is to get a new engine. Its VW IT straight-six will be replaced in the new year by a Eura-3 five-pot 2.5-1Itre 101, uprated to produce over 130hp and 280Nm.
In tests the new unit gives a fully laden Pinzgauer the same acceleration as the old version running unladen.
Automotive Technik is also to market the Austrian-built Pinzgauer Protector; a fully armoured 6x6. It is pictured as a 12-passenger personnel carrier but is also suitable for use as a rescue or command vehicle, or as an ambulance.
• See Pinzgauer feature, page 44.
