Monolith Electronics are producing a range of solid-state constant-current automatic battery chargers, combined with auxiliary vehicle starting facilities, having minimal manual controls, and moving parts designed to withstand severe misuse with maximum safety.
Operation is prevented unless connection is made to a battery and with the correct polarity as indicated by a signal light, protecting both user and alternators.
A sulphation test is incorporated, and the charger is regulated by the battery to prevent excessive current and to switch off when charge is complete. A meter is provided for visual reference. The output is for six, 12 or 24V batteries, the type 1 KVAC supplying 0 to 80amps, the 2 KVAC giving up to 100amps, and used also as an auxiliary starter for light vehicles, the 3 KVAC is for heavy commercial vehicles, All chargers are in identical conical steel cases with four 7in. castors The 240V ac mains cable and charging leads are carried in two hoops, which also buffer impacts.

A full range of extra equipment is available. The spindle drive is by oil-fed gearbox producing speeds of 20-640 rpm, spindle bearings being of large diameter, adjustable taper roller type. There are forward and reverse feeds to both longitudinal and cross-slides. The clamping of drums and discs is by a universal kit of cones and adaptors.
