CRACKS HAVE ALREADY begun to appear in the alliance of fuel protesters with farmers and hauliers falling out over tactics.
Farmers for Action chairman David Handleykicked off protests at Stanlow Refinery on Monday 25 April, but only 15 tractors turned up and fuel deliveries were unaffected.
Dai Owen, boss of JD Owen Transport, says: "We were taken by surprise butit was important toshow our support. A lot of other hauliers couldn't make it because they already had work arranged. Direct action was also our last port of call but he made it the first ."
Jim Macauley, MD of Cadzow Heavy Haulage is furious: "Handley is an idiot. He dives in with 15 tractors, shoots his mouth off and was ignored. He ruined the element of surprise."
Handley claims FFA's protest was highly successful: "There are just one or two egos criticising me because they weren't the first to take any action."
Separately 50 trucks joined a goslow convoy to two refineries in South Wales.
The M6 in Cheshire is the venue of the next planned protest.
